| The
pace of investment and development in the oil sands industry has accelerated in
recent years and, as E&P companies in Canada look to maximize oil sands
production, they are dramatically up-scaling in situ extraction methods to
exploit the estimated 1.3 billions barrels of oil in place. The major challenge
now for E&Ps is guaranteeing that there is enough water to ensure in situ
production can continue in both the immediate and long term. Water sourcing,
treatment and re-use are therefore becoming increasingly vital foci among
executives and senior experts across the Canadian oil sands industry
including Shell, Nexen Inc, Husky Energy, CNRL, Cenovus Energy, Osum Oil
Sands and Ivanhoe Energy – all companies which will be addressing the
