EWA Brussels Days - 12th EWA Brussels Conference "EU Water Policy and Sustainable Development

Held in cooperation with the DG Environment of the European Commission, the main objective of the annual EWA Brussels Conference is to establish a dialogue between the European Commission and European water professionals and stakeholders. Sustainable Development stands for meeting the needs of present generations without jeopardizing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs – in other words, a better quality of life for everyone, now and for generations to come. Water is central to the functioning of ecosystems and essential to all aspects of socio-economic wellbeing, including agriculture, industrial production, health and sanitation. There is an increasing pressure on water resources at local, regional and global level. The EU instruments are designed to improve the management of water resources and relieve current pressure on water. EU water policy has the intention to develop smart and sustainable water practices, in order to increase societal, environmental and security policy benefits, and also significant economic gains.
