Event CONFERENCE: "Water scarcity and management under Mediterranean climate",

Newsletter - Environmental Technologies Research

Aim of the meeting: Mediterranean regions are submitted to irregular water supply and rising water demands. This combination of factors may have catastrophic effects on ecosystems but may also result in relevant economic and social constraints. This meeting will discuss about the different aspects of the water cycle under water scarcity, in order to define the implications and the relevant strategies to make compatible the improvement of natural systems and the appropriate management of the water resources. The meeting will address the following issues:

  • The implication of water scarcity on the quality of water, the ecosystem conservation, and the societal response in terms of domestic availability, industry, and agriculture.

  • The most appropriate management possibilities under water scarcity and within the prospects of global change.
