INBO 8th World General Assembly, Dakar (Senegal) – From 20 to 23 January 2010: «Adapting to the consequences of climate change in the basins: Tools for action»

I am pleased to confirm that the next 8^th World General Assembly of the International Network of Basin Organizations - INBO - will take in DAKAR in SENEGAL from 20 to 23 JANUARY 2010, at the invitation of the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River - OMVS.

The World General Assembly of DAKAR will be organized around the large strategic topic of the necessary implementation of programs for adapting to the consequences of Climate Change in the basins of rivers, lakes and aquifers, either local, national or transboundary, which we will deal with in five round tables:

• Institutional frameworks for action of Basin Organizations,
• Prevention and management of the extreme climate phenomena of floods and droughts,
• Monitoring, monitoring and warning systems,
• Formulation of basin management plans and action plans of the basin organizations and their financing,
• Participation of local authorities, water users and the public.

There will be simultaneous translation into English, Spanish and French.

Registration to the World General Assembly of INBO is free of charge.

The meeting is open to all INBO Member Organizations and Permanent Observers, and also to all the water Administrations and organizations, interested in Integrated Water Resources Management at the level of river basins over the world.

You are invited to come and present a paper on your field experience.

A General Assembly of the African Network of Basin Organizations - ANBO - will also take place in DAKAR on 19 and 20 January 2010.

The Members of INBO World Liaison Bureau are invited to a meeting on 20 January 2010 in the afternoon.

Thank you for registering in advance for the technical visit which will be organized by the Organization for the Development of the Senegal River - OMVS, on Saturday 23 January the whole day. A visit of the management infrastructures in the mouth of the Senegal River in the area of SAINT LOUIS, to the north of DAKAR, is planned (Beware: departure will be early in the morning and return late in the evening).

I would advise you to arrive on Wednesday 20 January 2010 and, if your agenda allows it, to leave on Sunday 24 January in the morning. You will arrive at DAKAR international airport. Practical information on transportation to your hotel will be sent to you later on.

I remind you that the nationals of several countries will need an entry visa to Senegal and possibly an entry visa for the « European Schengen Area » (if you arrive through a European airport) which must be obtained before your departure from your country.

Your hotel booking at group discount price could be made for you by our OMVS hosts in the selected hotels in DAKAR.

Our OMVS hosts will only take charge of the shuttles and local travels in the DAKAR area, of the technical visit, together with lunches and dinners, from Wednesday 20 January evening to Saturday 23 January noon included.

Unfortunately, INBO cannot take charge of your air travel expenses and hotel accommodation.
