News The Valencian Region brings the ‘Water Bus’ to the European Parliament

Regional Vice-president and Minister of Presidency of the Valencian Regional Government, Vicente Rambla, has presented the “Water Bus” in Brussels, an interactive travelling exhibition proposing measures on economising domestic water use.

This exhibition was open from 10am to 6pm on February 6th and 7th, next to the European Parliament (Rue Montoyer), and on February 8th by the Valencian Regional Office in Brussels (Rue de la Loi 227).

“This bus will raise awareness in Europe on the water scarcity problems faced by southern regions and will promote our region’s efforts regarding sustainable use of water resources”, said Mr Rambla.

“The Valencian Region recycles 175 cubic hectometres, which represents 50% of recycled water in Spain, being the leading region in water treatment and reuse, as well as water saving and efficient use of water resources”, added Vicente Rambla.

The water policy implemented by the Valencian Region was endorsed by the Committee of the Region’s commission for Sustainable Development, which approved a draft opinion on water scarcity and drought presented by Francisco Camps, President of the Valencian Regional Government. This opinion will be adopted in the next Plenary Session in April.

Rambla also insisted on the need of a European policy on water management, which is one of the main claims of Camp’s Report on water scarcity.

Fundación Comunidad Valenciana - Región Europea and CAM savings institution joined efforts in order to bring the ‘Water Bus’ to Brussels. The exhibition provides information on the usual water consumption patterns in households and will raise awareness on the need of a responsible use of water resources.

The bus contains bathroom fittings and electrical appliances involving water consumption and shows ways to optimize its use.
