Business Unit

Projects Directorate (PJ) - Convergence and Environment Department - Water and Environment Protection Division

Assessment, within a multi-disciplinary team, of the technical, operational and environmental viability of capital investment projects and programmes in the water sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the technical, operational and environmental viability and sustainability of water supply and sanitation investment projects and programmes in the countries in which the Bank operates, notably in developing countries
  • Contribute to the overall appraisal of loan proposals and monitor approved projects during the implementation stage
  • Contribute to sector studies and sector lending strategies
  • Assist in the identification of new projects and manage technical and non-technical tasks for project preparation
  • Co-operate on water sector strategies and project development with the Lending Directorates,  the European Commission and International Financial Institutions

Qualifications

  • Advanced academic qualifications with relevant university degree in water engineering.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the water sector covering the main aspects of project cycle (feasibility, design, development, management and operation).
  • Experience gained internationally, especially in developing countries and in the implementation of private sector participation in water services.
  • Experience on sector regulation, institutional frameworks and utility organisations would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of French and very good command of English. The knowledge of another European Union language would be appreciated
  • Proficiency in computer applications
