World leaders gather to discuss plans to meet the Millennium Development Goals
The next major international opportunity to make progress on the water and sanitation targets is the taking place in New York at the UN High Level Event on the MDGs on 22-25 September. The event will bring heads of state together to mobilize increased action to accelerate progress towards the MDGs.
Jamillah Mwanjisi, Executive Secretary of ANEW is taking part in a 'Poverty hearing' organised by GCAP. Barbara Frost, Chief Executive of WaterAid has been invited to represent CSOs and local NGOs in a panel discussion at the Partnership Event on Water and Sanitation. This event is organised by Japan, the Netherlands and Tajikistan and aims to deliver a declaration and series of recommendations to feed into the main roundtables the following day.
