IPCC makes moves towards DRR-adaptation report
At the 29th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 31 August - 4 September 2008 in Geneva, Switzerland, parties agreed to hold a scoping workshop on the IPCC Special Report on Managing Extreme Events to Advance Adaptation proposed by Norway and the ISDR system with support from Luxembourg. The workshop will be held in early 2009 and recommend to the IPCC’s 30th session whether it should carry out the proposal. The proposal seeks to develop a scientifically sound assessment of information and practices on risk reduction and risk management to support policies and programmes for adaptation to climate change.
