News Arab organization commends Jordan's environmental efforts

Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) hailed the efforts made by the Jordanian organizations concerned with environmental activities.

In a report submitted to the meeting of the 20th session of the Arab environment ministers council held in Cairo on Sunday RAED said environmental work in Jordan include sustainable development plans, training on environmental awareness and capacity-building of public and private sector organizations.

The report pointed out that Jordan's environmental efforts have an Arab and regional dimension.

Jordan contributed to building Iraq's capacity through implementing joint plans in areas such as water harvesting and biogas.

Jordanian environment experts also contribute to many Arab and international conferences addressing environmental issues.

RAED presented a Jordanian project dealing with plastic recycling as a successful model for economic and social development that could be adopted in Arab countries.

RAED is an Arab non-government organization established in November 1990.

It was founded to meet the actual needs of NGOs throughout the Arab countries and to gather them under one umbrella.

The Arab League recognized RAED and offered it the position of being an observer for the meetings of the Technical General Secretariat of the Council of the Arab Ministries Related to Environment (CAMRE).
