News Launch of the World Justice Project MENA Opportunity Fund Round: Deadline extended to 13 September 2010

Following the MENA Rule of Law Conference’s pledge, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Opportunity Fund MENA Program.  This funding window will enable us to continue WJP’s progress in stimulating multidisciplinary programs to strengthen the Rule of Law; build new partnerships; and explore how the Rule of Law affects the work of all disciplines in the region.

The purpose of the MENA Rule of Law Conference was to incubate informed and practical action-oriented programs designed and executed by multidisciplinary groups in their respective communities. Thus, the hard work is just beginning.  In the coming months, the innovative ideas and action plans that began in June at the Conference in Morocco will take form and come to life, thanks to your contributions. While a handful of action plans conceived at the MENA Conference will be implemented with seed grants from the Opportunity Fund, most will be implemented through your hard work and ability to leverage resources. We encourage you to keep us and your fellow participants informed of the implementation and outcome of the action plans for which you are making an active contribution.

To this end, the World Justice Project will provide a limited number of seed grants not exceeding US$10,000, with a total funding envelope of US$40,000. Grants will be awarded to programs that stem directly from action plans that were developed in working sessions at the MENA Conference.  Attached are the guidelines for these projects and a proposal template. The Deadline was extended to September 13rd, 2010. Under the envisioned process, the WJP anticipates making final funding notifications by September 10, 2010, and expects to disburse first installments of grant funds by October 1, 2010.  Please address proposals and inquiries to: opportunityfund@wjpnet.org
