GWSP SSC member Richard Lawford presents GEOSS Water Strategy
The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is currently finalizing a strategy document entitled "The GEOSS Water Strategy: From Observations to Decision".
On October 11, 2013, a presentation of the GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems) Water Strategy and a discussion about potential cooperation opportunities took place at the German Aerospace Center in Bonn, Germany. The GEOSS Water Strategy was presented by Richard Lawford, Morgan State University, USA.
The purpose of the Strategy is to provide GEO, CEOS, WMO and other agencies with guidance about strategies for water cycle observations, information systems, interoperability, capacity building, etc. During the meeting, the following items were addressed:
1) the GEOSS Water Strategy report (overview)
2) the implementation of the Water Strategy (possible roles of meeting participants/cooperation opportunities)
3) IGWCO (Integrated Global Water Cycle Observations) Capacity Building (Africa mainly)
