News Successful ACQUEAU Workshop at IWA World Water Congress

The IWA World Water Congress was a great opportunity for networking and raising awareness about ACQUEAU, the EUREKA Cluster for water technologies. Participants in the congress showed interest in collaborating with this strategic initiative of the water industry.

Mike Farrimond, ACQUEAU’s Scientific Advisor presented the objectives of the Cluster to a large audience. Miguel Carrinho, member of the board of ACQUEAU and CFO of Águas do Ribatejo, exposed the main existing challenges of the water sector, and the CEO of Canadian company WaterTap, Brian Mergelas, compared European and Canadian water markets. Since 2013, the National Research Council Of Canada and ACQUEAU have organised a series of conferences to explore partnering opportunities in Canada.

Three ACQUEAU projects were presented during the congress:

  • TRIUMPH: Treating Urban Micropollutants and Pharmaceuticals in Wastewaters;
  • SWARM: Smart WAter Ressource active Management.
  • DUTS: Development of an Ultra-low-energy, wireless and low-cost Telecontrol System
