News Israel: Wastewater tech firm Mapal gears up for listing

Israeli wastewater treatment technology company Mapal Green Energy is preparing to float on London’s Alternative Investment Market in early summer this year in a bid to expand its global footprint.

Mapal’s fine bubble aeration technology is aimed at reducing the cost of wastewater treatment by reducing the large amount of energy consumed by treatment plants. Founded in 2007, the company now boasts 40 installations worldwide, with the UK accounting for a significant chunk of the portfolio. New regulations brought in with the latest UK asset management plan in April this year have made utilities there more conscious of wastewater treatment plant operating costs.

The AIM flotation will be led by Strand Hanson, with Beaufort Securities acting as brokers. The listing sees Mapal join the likes of Modern Water, Amiad and MyCelx in turning to the quoted UK stock market for funds.
