Bulgaria's Vratsa water utility signs deal for 25.6 mln euro EU-backed project
SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 4 - The water utility serving Bulgaria's northwestern region of Vratsa has signed a deal with the environment ministry for the construction of water and sanitation infrastructure - a project worth over 50 million levs (25.6 million euro), the ministry said.
The project benefits from 36.3 million levs in EU financing under operational programme Environment 2014-2020, the environment ministry said in a press release.
The project envisages the rehabilitation, reconstruction and/or additional construction works on a total of 80 km of water supply network in the cities of Vratsa, Mezdra, Byala Slatina and Kozloduy.
After the successful completion of construction works, a further 78,000 residents will have access to improved water supply, while water losses are expected to decrease by 20%.
The project should be completed within 49 months.
