FAO : The new AQUAMAPS platform is now online
In a world with 7 billion people to feed and growing concerns about land and water scarcity, today’s professionals need easy access to up-to-date information, models, approaches and technologies to support evidence-based decision-making for water resources assessments and sustainable food production. In this context, AQUAMAPS contributes to the design of more targeted water interventions and investment plans by providing access to key information for monitoring agricultural water productivity and agricultural systems at risk due to human pressure on land and water.
The new platform implements the most advanced tools available, including geo-spatial modelling and analytics, and allows users to query and explore regional and global spatial datasets on water resources and water management, to analyse trends and identify real-time gaps and opportunities to support decision-making in water and agriculture sectors.AQUAMAPS is part of AQUASTAT, FAO’s global information system on water and agricultural.
