Nudges for Economics of water tariffs
Nudges for Economics of water tariffs (NEWTS) is a new Water JPI project that aims to analyse the effects of policy mix, combining nudges (soft incentives) and tariff instruments, on socio-economic performance of Demand Side Management (DSM) programs. The project is organised around 4 field study urban areas: the city of Cape Town (South Africa) where nudges have been already used with some effectiveness, Gijon (North West of Spain), Saint-Paul (France, la Réunion island) and Sfax (Tunisia). This 3-years research project will result in new knowledge and a set of tools (DSS, dashboards, guidelines) for decision makers (water utilities and planning authorities). It brings together research institutes from France, Spain, South Africa and Tunisia. Its kick-off meeting will take place in Grenoble (France), 21-23 May 2019
