News Tunisia is studying the construction of underground dams to collect water

On  October 23, 2023,the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries confirmed that they will construct 31 dams by the year 2050. Additionally, the ministry will dig underground dams to collect water and prevent its evaporation due to climate changes.  Tunisia, like many other countries, is suffering from the effects of climate change and recurring years of drought. The current focus of the Ministry of Agriculture is to mitigate these changes and provide water to all citizens and sectors. They are also moving towards the increased use of non-conventional water sources, desalinated water, treated water, and recycling.
