International Workshop on Hydraulic Design of Low-Head Structures: IWLHS 2013
Hydraulic engineering is one of the most challenging fields in civil engineering and becomes more and more important in times of climate and demographic change. Particularly, the flow around structures is of a complex nature and flow phenomena are still not fully understood.
This workshop aims to bring together experts working in the specialized field of low-head structure design from both, research and practice communities. It will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of recent advances in knowledge as well as future needs. The workshop is yet another event in a series of successful workshops and symposia organized by the IAHR Hydraulic Structures Committee during the last decade.
The surroundings of Aachen are characterized by a long tradition in hydraulic engineering being reflected in a large number of dams, weirs and other structures as well as a high density of consultancies and local water associations.
The Local Organizing Committee is thus delighted to invite you to participate in the International Workshop on Hydraulic Design of Low-Head Structures taking place on February 20 to 22, 2013, in Aachen/Germany.
