Event European Utility Week 2014 - Smart Water track

European Utility Week 2014, an essential 3 days for every smart utility professional! Never has the well worn saying "By the industry for the industry" been more applicable. Since the record-breaking 2013 edition, we have been in close consultation with existing and new stakeholders to bring you a completely re-engineered event programme, including new formats amongst tried and tested formulas with content for all levels dealing with the here and now and the challenges of the future. Innovation will be at the forefront of the 3 days with showcasing of projects and new solutions.

Focus this year on Energy Storage.

European Utility Week has come a long way since its humble beginnings as Metering Europe. Yet we know there is further to go to ensure delivery of fresh, relevant and targeted content across the whole smart energy value chain. That is why we are constantly experimenting with new ideas and new formatting techniques. However well we are doing things, we know there are always improvements we can make.

We have concluded our annual advisory committee meeting in February and – having absorbed the ideas and constructive feedback from these industry representatives – we are now implementing our most ambitious plans yet to elevate this industry leading event.

Have a look at this year's new programme structure:

C-LEVEL SUMMIT
Setting out means, to tackle some of the key structural challenges facing the utility industry. By invitation only.

STRATEGIC PROGRAMME
Spread across three days, the strategic programme focuses on the industry shifts, emerging trends, structural reform and market design. We incorporate the views not only of very senior level utility and energy experts but also those of outsider businesses such as Google, Paypal and Phillips.

This programme is designed to give a bird’s eye view of where the industry currently is and where it should be heading and especially designed for a senior level audience, involved in the strategic roadmap toward a smart energy transition.

A unique platform to interact, discuss and network with more than 1500 senior level smart energy professionals in a dedicated conference area.

New Smart Water Programme – the water energy nexus

With the new 3-day Smart Water track, European Utility Week will further strengthen the position of water within the event’s portfolio, and with that respond to the industry’s need for a broader approach towards smart utility technology.

This new programme will be created in partnership with the International Water Association (IWA), which will be available online as of early June.

Key topics on the agenda include:

  • Energy for Water: Reducing the Energy Carbon Footprint of Water
  • Optimizing household Consumer Energy and Water Efficiency
  • Is Big Data High Value for the Water Sector?
  • Smart Meters: Large Scale Application in the Water Sector
  • Smart Grids: A New Frontier for the Water Sector

We are currently working with the IWA to develop this session but already have a number of prominent speakers confirmed, including:

  • Amir Peleg, CEO, TaKaDu
  • Philippe Carton, Deputy Vice President Water Europe, Suez Environment
  • Erick Oostermeyer, Project Coordinator, Vitens N.V
  • Kate Zerrenner, Project Manager, US Climate and Energy Program, Environmental Defense Fund
  • Bruno Nguyen, Head of Regulation and International Relations, Eau de Paris

Keep checking back for further updates! The full programme will be online at the end of June.

Ger Bergkamp, IWA Executive Director commented, "Utilities make up a significant proportion of IWA’s membership and we constantly strive to find ways to connect them with peers and clients. This is increasingly important as the water sector faces critical global challenges that require a major transformation in the way we engage with other sectors. European Utility Week offers the exciting prospect of bringing utility leaders from the water and energy sectors together to forge partnerships and create sustainable solutions for our water and energy needs."
